Laser Cutting Head Laser cutting head is one of the most important components in laser cutting machines. Traditional cutting head consists of only focus lens and cutting nozzle which does not have auto focus function. In wide range laser cutting machines, different processing parts have slightly different height that causes the material deviated from actual focal length. As a result variation of focused beam spot, power density and cutting position will cause laser cutting quality inconsistent and difficult to meet the requirement. Therefore a quality laser cutting head is very important as the height can be adjusted whenever processing any material at different height using any cutting method. The distance between cutting nozzle and workpiece is one of the factors affected cutting speed and quality. Beside selecting suitable nozzle and air pressure parameter according to cutting situation, the distance between nozzle and workipiece should also increase or decrease base on workpiece thickness. To ensure high quality cutting the nozzle during cutting process must always be maintained stability at the same height, especially on thin, textured surface, inconsistent flatness workpiece or even limited cutting environment. It is impossible to adjust the height manually during cutting process as human reaction is slow while cutting speed is very fast. To solve manually adjustment instability, a height adjustment follower is necessary. With the follower installed no matter how thick the workpiece is, the height will always be the same. According to market requirement we developed self-floating auto focus laser cutting head. It uses the capacitive sensing and automated servo system to ensure the cutting process always in focus to have a consistent, clean and no glitch cutting result.
